Interactive Session on Women, Food and Biodiversity

Under our Food for Thought Series we organised an interactive session on Women, Food and Biodiversity with Nobel Laureate Prof. Wangari Muta Maathai, Ms. Susanni Cenni, Minister of Agriculture, Regione of Tuscany, Italy and Ms. Maria Grazia Mammucinni, Biodiversity and Agriculture Researcher, ARSIA, Italy.


 



Prof. Maathai message was that we live on planet with very limited resources and this resources has to be shared by all of us in an accountable manner. Losing our indigenous food crops is undermining our own system, our livellihood and our life.

Ms. Susanna Cenni and Ms. Grazia spoke about the Tuscan model of sustainable agriculture. They spoke about their experience and how it helped them to define common principles and strategies to defend and promote a sustainable agriculture respectful of the environment on our territories. Regione of Tuscany has enacted a law for the protection of local breeds and varieties.
