Vandana Shiva

Dr. Vandana Shiva is the founder of Navdanya and director of the Research Foundation for Science, Technology and Ecology, founded to do research in a participatory mode with people, not on them - and to do research with an interdisciplinary approach, - reflecting the interconnections in the web of life.

She is the recipient of the 1993 Right Livelihood Award – often called the “Alternative Nobel Prize”, the award recognizes “vision and work contributing to making life more whole, healing the planet and uplifting humanity.” Her books, “The Violence of Green Revolution,” “Stolen Harvest” and “Monocultures of the Mind” have established fundamental challenges to the dominant paradigm of non-sustainable agricultural practices.
