with John Seed, Ruth Rosenhek, and Dr. Vandana Shiva
Earth
To acknowledge our interconnectedness with air and water and soil, indeed
our IDENTITY with them, is to invite the spontaneous healing of psyche.
It is from these elements that our bodies and psyche too are woven. Through
experiential processes we move from despair to empowerment, from ecological
ideas to ecological identity, from separation to union with Earth.
Spirit
How do we engage in social or ecological change work from a place of heart
and spirit? From a deep ecology and Buddhist perspective, not only is
the separation between humankind and Nature an illusion, so too the separation
we feel from each other. Through a practice of Compassionate Action, we
engage in an ongoing powerful revolution.
Activism Both John and Ruth will present on the activism work that they
do -
protecting the endangered species of New South Wales, stopping rainforest
destruction in Ecuador, stopping the gold mine on the sacred Wiradjuri
Lake Cowal in New South Wales, reforesting the sacred mountain of Arunachala
in India. We will look at issues of burn-out, conflict, and other challenges
to this work.
The Course
The course will begin on the Bija Vidyapeeth campus, set on Navdanya’s
organic farm (a few kilometers outside of Dehra Dun, Uttaranchal, India).
