The Good Food Programme was launched on July 28th, 2005, in association with the Diabetes Foundation of India. The programme will mobilise various resources, organisations and institutions to achieve the aims of the programme.
Awareness on the link between diet and obesity, diabetes and related problems will be created through lectures and seminars
The Programme will organise health programmes and checkups with participating schools and organisations including those working with street children
Students will participate in health education through food and health related competitions, quizzes and screening of films
For schools wanting to undertake activities related to building alternatives related to Good Food and healthy eating, Navdanya will facilitate the creation of edible schoolyards (Saagwari). There are biodiversity gardens through which students can get an education on ecology, biodiversity, health and nutrition
Biodiversity tours to Navdanya's biodiversity conversation and organic farm in Doon Valley will be organised for children
"The Little Chef" programme will organise cooking and nutrition classes for children at Navdanya's Health and Nutrition Centre and Organic Cafe at D 26, Hauz Khas, New Delhi, India
Public policy advocacy will be undertaken with policymakers in government to take firm action in appropriate directions to ensure good food for all
Research work done under the Good Food Programme will be published
