The paradigm of capitalist patriarchy declared nature as dead and women as the second sex . But nature is alive, and nature and women are intelligent ,creative, productive .

Capitalist patriarchy denies the creativity of nature , and hence the Rights of Mother Earth. In is therefore anthropocentric. But it is not all humans included in the circle of being human.

Separation is the characteristic of paradigms emerging fro the convergence of patriarchy and capitalism-first nature is separated from humans, then humans are separated on the basis of gender, religion ,caste, class. This separation of that which is interrelated and interconnected is at the root of violence –first in the mind , then in our lives

This violence is leading to irrepairable and irreversible ecological and social damage.
The recognition of The Rights of Mother Earth and the Rights of Women is vital for stopping the violence it nature and women , and putting them at the centre of new paradigms of knowledge , economy and power.

Declaration of Diverse Women for Diversity

More than 20 years ago we started the Divers Women for Diversity movement with the statement of Concern

“We women, in all our vibrant and fabulous diversity, have witnessed the increasing aggression against the human spirit, human mind and human body and the continued invasion of and assault upon the Earth and all her diverse species. And we are enraged.
We demand of governments, international organisations, transnational corporations and individual men who share our rage, that they address the crisis that has been caused by the creation of mono cultures and the reduction, enclosure, and extinction of biological and cultural diversity.
We insist that those who would address the crisis listen to and take leadership from women, indigenous peoples, farmers, and all who have raised these concerns at the local level. We ask them to heed those whose wisdom, stewardship, knowledge and commitment has already been demonstrated by the preservation of the diversity we celebrate today.”

Mother Earth and Women are the creative energies that sustain life on Earth and in our homes and communities.

Capitalist Patriarchy defined Nature as dead, as mere raw material to be exploited. Women were defined as passive, as a "second sex". Their knowledge was not counted by the reductionist, mechanistic paradigm of science. Their work in sustainance was not counted by the reductionist mechanistic paradigm of "growth" based on GDP which measures only what is commodified and traded, not what nourishes us. Economies based on greed and profits have exploited the earth and women. It has created the illusion of limitless growth on a planet with limits.

Ecofeminism, as part of Earth Democracy, recognises that all beings are creative, intelligent, productive. That women have sustained the economy of care and well being. That as an earth family we are all equal, and violence against the earth and women is not acceptable. That all of us, women and men, are called on by the earth to contribute to the work that is needed for the well being of the earth and society.
